Punctuated by an electrifying and hauntingly beautiful rock score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, the story captures the timeless and turbulent experience of adolescence, following a group of teens as they navigate the confusing and often troubled waters of teenage angst and their budding sexuality, grappling with issues like suicide, pregnancy and identity -- topics that remain as timely and relevant as ever.
