The Underpants is the great actor-comedian's laugh-out-loud satire of the bourgeois manners and customs of the early 20th century. When young Louise's underpants accidentally fall down in full public view, it turns her into a celebrity of sorts and jeopardizes the civil service career of her very conservative, stuffed-shirt husband. Her 15 minutes of fame reaches its apex when she's recognized by the two infatuated men who are renting the couple's spare room. A cavalcade of coarse double entendres and burlesque-style physical comedy ensues, in pure Steve Martin style.
