  The Three Sisters at ACT

The Three Sisters

ACT
700 Union St. Seattle

Following their historic trip to Uzbekistan, where they performed Chekhov's The Seagull to packed houses, The Seagull Project returns to Seattle's ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) with another of Anton Chekhov's masterworks: The Three Sisters. Falls Theatre at ACT presents this humorous and affecting tale that centers around the once privileged Prozorov family, who begin to feel constrained by the smallness of life in their tiny provincial Russian town, previously a bustling army outpost where their late father served as general. Attempts to improve their crumbling social status lay bare the larger forces of unrest that will soon engulf the entire town. The lives of the three sisters that give this play its title -- matriarchal Olga, witty Masha and baby Irina -- all revolve around their brother Andrei and his sometimes questionable decisions, and each character's true nature is revealed by how they cope with their family's changing fortune.
