Infusing the classic Death Takes a Holiday with some Christmas comedy, The Christmas Spirit finds contemporary Long Islander Julia Downing visited by an unexpected guest who intends to escort her into the afterlife. Julia persuades Death to allow her one more day in order to enjoy Christmas by inviting him to be a guest at her holiday party. He accepts, and the next day finds Julia's house filled with bickering relatives, friends, the local priest and Death disguised as a human being, at a party filled with moments of farce, drama and even romance.
