The Cherry Orchard
ACT
700 Union St. Seattle
Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, his final and arguably greatest full-length play, is still as relevant today as it was when it opened at the Moscow Art Theatre in 1904. A cherry orchard, retaining years of family memories within its blossoms and branches, is the pride and joy of the owners of an estate. However, it's about to be sold at auction unless delinquent property taxes are paid, but none of the landowners seem to be willing or able to grasp the gravity of the situation. With its tragicomic look at how two generations face the inevitability of change, this ACT and Seagull Project production at Falls Theatre feels completely of the moment.
