  H.M.S. Pinafore at Seattle Center

H.M.S. Pinafore

Seattle Center
305 Harrison Street Seattle

Gilbert & Sullivan's satirical story of mistaken identity, love, intrigue and duty in the British navy, with irresistible tunes and hilariously intricate lyrics, is one of the legendary duo's most beloved operettas. H.M.S. Pinafore is the tale of a gentlemanly captain who has arranged for his daughter to marry the First Lord of the Admiralty. The trouble is, she's already in love with a common sailor. The couple's plot to elope is discovered by the captain, but a surprise twist at the end changes everything. Poking good-natured fun at class discrimination, this superb example of a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta has remained immensely popular throughout the 130-plus years since its debut and contributed significantly to the development of modern musical theater. Take a theatrical journey aboard the H.M.S. Pinafore at The Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center, courtesy of the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society.
