Enchanted April
Wade James Theatre
950 Main Street Edmonds
The adventure begins with a newspaper ad: "To those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine. Small medieval Italian castle ... to be let for the month of April." This is the set-up for Enchanted April, a stage play that blends Italian warmth with English charm. Based on Elizabeth von Arnim's novel, Enchanted April centers around four Englishwomen in the 1920's who wind up renting the castle, perched on a remote Italian island. Once there, the ladies fall under the spell of their sun-drenched surroundings even as they try to come to grips with their lives and relationships. Made into both a film with Alfred Molina and Joan Plowright and a hit, Tony-nominated Broadway play, this beloved story returns to the stage in at the James Wade Theatre near Seattle.
