Boozy and burned-out university professor Dr. Frank Bryant needs to earn some extra cash to support his expensive alcohol habit, so he agrees to tutor Rita, a brash, free-spirited young hairdresser trying desperately to better herself. The result is British playwright Willy Russell's delightful Pygmalion-style comedy Educating Rita, with Frank playing Henry Higgins to Rita's modern-day Eliza Doolittle. Each has a profound effect on the other, opening up new possibilities for their lives. This touching and comical show explores the transformational nature of education -- which can often come from the most unlikely of teachers.
