Butterflies Are Free
Woodinville Repertory Theatre
16120 Woodinville Redmond Rd Woodinville
A touching and humorous play about doubt, heartbreak and taking risks, Butterflies Are Free centers on Don Baker -- a blind young man who's lived for years in the shadow of his alter ego, "Donny Dark," a character in the children's books written by his mother. When Don decides to finally break away from his controlling mother, he moves to an apartment in Manhattan to pursue his dream of being a songwriter. But when Mrs. Baker comes to visit and meets her son's quirky actress neighbor (played memorably by Goldie Hawn in the 1972 film), her controlling nature kicks into overdrive. Come to Woodinville Repertory Theatre to see for yourself whether Don is able to stand up to her, or if he succumbs to parental power.
